Sounds like a Cliff Klavin fact fest, don’t it? As a confirmed afficienado of February 29th, I learned that it was the Gregorians (yes, the chant people) who were called upon by the Pope to “handle” the extra 11 minutes a year that the first try at ‘Leap Year’ did not address. Their solution? If the last year of the century is divisible by 400, then it gets a Leap Year day (Feb 29th). If not, sorry. I celebrated my 12th birthday on Feb. 29th, 2000 but will not get a day to celebrate my 37th birthday in 2100. Yes, I’m a Leaper, and had a great time last week on my 14th b-day.
