Aptitudes - Personal Accountability

The capacity to be responsible for the consequences of one’s own decisions and actions.

As a strength:
The salesperson will avoid placing unnecessary blame on others.  They will be able to apply personal lessons learned from past failures to moving forward in achieving future successes.  This is derived from two internal factors:  responsibility to be accountable and willingness to own up.  Their focus will be more on correcting the problem to ensure future success than on protecting themselves.

As a weakness:
The salesperson will have a tendency to avoid taking responsibility for their actions, poor decisions or bad sales results.  Although achieving goals and success can be important to them, their self image is often fragile and protecting it is far more important.  They may blame the company’s policies, their unclear role within the company or even market events that influenced their results.
