{"id":1617,"date":"2008-06-13T13:55:29","date_gmt":"2008-06-13T18:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/06\/customer-service-dex-style\/"},"modified":"2008-06-13T13:49:43","modified_gmt":"2008-06-13T18:49:43","slug":"customer-service-dex-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/06\/customer-service-dex-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Customer Service &#8211; Dex Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unbelievable.\u00a0 I sent an email NINE days ago to Dex, the phone book company.\u00a0 They have an old listing for our business including a phone number and address we haven&#8217;t had for over 3 years.\u00a0 I was just informed of this fact by a customer who was trying to reach us from a coffee shop when he didn&#8217;t have his cell phone with him.<\/p>\n<p>The response from the Dex rep says much about customer service in this particular market segment.\u00a0 My initial email through their website form simply stated they had the wrong information for our company and I provided the correct information.\u00a0 The response I received:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Thank you for writing Dex. Currently the listing information we are publishing for (xxx) xxx-xxxx is coming directly from your phone company. Since it is coming from an outside source we are unable to change it here. If you contact your service provider though, they will be able to address this for you. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.<br \/>\nThank you,<br \/>\n&lt;removed&gt;<br \/>\nDex Media<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My email back to them:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Thank you for your email.\u00a0 A couple things jump out at me.\u00a0 First, we haven&#8217;t used that phone number for over 3 years now.\u00a0 I would think that you may want to audit the phone company information you are receiving.\u00a0 After all, you are publishing a directory with allegedly accurate information.\u00a0 If the information is inaccurate, doesn&#8217;t that make your directory less valuable?\u00a0 Why use a directory with inaccurate information?<\/p>\n<p>Second, I find it remarkable that you are asking me to fix your problem.\u00a0 I was attempting to point out an inaccurate listing in your directory.\u00a0 I am not aware of what phone company you are referencing.\u00a0 We have a VoIP line so no phone company is involved.\u00a0 May I suggest that YOU contact the phone company that is providing YOU with erroneous information?<\/p>\n<p>I am not going to waste my time trying to sort out which phone company is providing the information.\u00a0 If you can fix your problem, great.\u00a0 Thank you in advance.\u00a0 If not, I understand and will do my part to inform people of the inaccuracy of Dex.<\/p>\n<p>Regards,<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Just doing my part.\u00a0 You know, you often hear about the bully pulpit of the Presidency.\u00a0 Maybe there is a bully pulpit of blogging?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unbelievable.\u00a0 I sent an email NINE days ago to Dex, the phone book company.\u00a0 They have an old listing for our business including a phone number and address we haven&#8217;t had for over 3 years.\u00a0 I was just informed of this fact by a customer who was trying to reach us from a coffee shop when he didn&#8217;t have his cell phone with him.
