{"id":1331,"date":"2007-12-11T13:45:50","date_gmt":"2007-12-11T19:45:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2007\/12\/time-kills-all-deals\/"},"modified":"2007-12-11T12:53:55","modified_gmt":"2007-12-11T18:53:55","slug":"time-kills-all-deals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2007\/12\/time-kills-all-deals\/","title":{"rendered":"Time Kills All Deals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently read an\u00a0excellent Career Journal\u00a0article &#8211; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.careerjournal.com\/jobhunting\/interviewing\/20071106-needleman.html?mod=RSS_Career_Journal&amp;cjrss=frontpage\">Speed Date a Potential Employer And Get an Offer That Same Day<\/a>.\u00a0 A point made in the article\u00a0is to include a response deadline when extending an offer\u00a0to a\u00a0candidate.<\/p>\n<p>The author puts in the following quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Time kills all deals,&#8221; he says. &#8220;I&#8217;ve had clients that lost out on candidates because they went the traditional way and dragged their feet for three or four weeks.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No one is making you, as an employer, change how you hire.\u00a0\u00a0If you want to take 3, 4 or even more weeks to run your hiring process, that is your choice.\u00a0 Remember, you are looking at a salesperson and they make their living by having multiple deals in the pipeline at various stages in the process.\u00a0 They are rewarded when they close.\u00a0 So don&#8217;t assume that just because you want to wait a week or two to move a candidate to the next step in the process that the candidate will be idly waiting for you.\u00a0 More than likely, they are moving forward with other deals.<\/p>\n<p>So my advice is to keep your process moving, make\u00a0the necessary\u00a0decisions and move candidates to a conclusion!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently read an\u00a0excellent Career Journal\u00a0article &#8211; Speed Date a Potential Employer And Get an Offer That Same Day.\u00a0 A point made in the article\u00a0is to include a response deadline when extending an offer\u00a0to a\u00a0candidate.
