{"id":1327,"date":"2007-12-10T08:08:44","date_gmt":"2007-12-10T14:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2007\/12\/when-your-cell-phone-takes-a-swim\/"},"modified":"2007-12-09T08:57:57","modified_gmt":"2007-12-09T14:57:57","slug":"when-your-cell-phone-takes-a-swim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2007\/12\/when-your-cell-phone-takes-a-swim\/","title":{"rendered":"When Your Cell Phone Takes A Swim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seriously, this happened to me.\u00a0 When my son was 2 or 3 years old, he took my work cell phone and dropped it in the toilet (is there a better motivation to make sure everyone in your house flushes the toilet?).\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t find it, I called the number and couldn&#8217;t hear it.\u00a0 I asked my son and he slowly led me to his bathroom where he raised the toilet seat and there it was.<\/p>\n<p>Yup, I reached down into the water (was flushed, thankfully) and pulled it out.\u00a0 I removed the battery and washed the entire thing with Lysol &#8230;twice.\u00a0 I let it dry out for 2 days and it worked.\u00a0 However, I still got rid of the phone in just a few months since I couldn&#8217;t look at it the same.<\/p>\n<p>Now Yahoo offers up this article &#8211; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/blog\/null\/6837\">How to Revive a Wet Cell Phone<\/a>.\u00a0 This story may only interest me, but there are some good tips in this short article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecellfreak.com\/how-do-i-save-a-wet-cellphone\/\">The Cell Freak<\/a> has all the collected wisdom on the topic, including some advice I&#8217;d never heard, like soaking the phone in 95% alcohol to dissolve all the water trapped inside.
