{"id":1307,"date":"2007-11-26T15:58:29","date_gmt":"2007-11-26T21:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2007\/11\/it-is-review-time\/"},"modified":"2007-11-26T15:53:02","modified_gmt":"2007-11-26T21:53:02","slug":"it-is-review-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2007\/11\/it-is-review-time\/","title":{"rendered":"It Is Review Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is that time of year again&#8230;no, not Christmas &#8211; employee reviews.\u00a0 This topic is of great interest to us in that we help companies on-ramp new sales hires.\u00a0 One of the key aspects of onramping is regular meetings or reviews.\u00a0 That is management 101.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, it is surprising how many managers have a tendency to avoid a structured review with their employees.\u00a0 I suspect some of it has to do with the fact that managers may not be involved in their sales reps activities.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not talking about babysitting them every day, but I am\u00a0talking about pre-call strategizing and post-call debriefing.\u00a0 If a sales manager is not completing those tasks, they probably do not have a deep knowledge of the salesperson&#8217;s abilities.<\/p>\n<p>The PioneerPlanet.com offers a good article on this topic &#8211; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.twincities.com\/ci_7552311?source=rss\">Make employee reviews positive, frequent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Perhaps the first thing to know about employee reviews or appraisals is that they shouldn&#8217;t be once-a-year events.
