CareerJournal offers this article &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.careerjournal.com\/columnists\/cubicleculture\/20061115-cubicle.html?mod=RSS_Career_Journal&#038;cjrss=frontpage\" target=\"_blank\">Tips for PowerPoint &#8212; Please Spare Us<\/a> &#8211; which comments on many pet peeves regarding Microsoft&#8217;s presentation software.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the barbs:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;there are an estimated 30 million PowerPoint presentations given <strong>each day<\/strong> around the world&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some times I think people prefer to simply be contrarians to the status quo. 30 million presentations can&#8217;t be wrong, can they?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>PowerPoint proponents say slideware doesn&#8217;t bore people, people bore people.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Oh do I agree with that statement. I wouldn&#8217;t castigate the program just because some people use it poorly. I have sat through many excellent presentations that I found most beneficial. My take in those presentations is that the software enhanced the learning experience.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there is this side too:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;says John Falck, a partner at a proprietary trading firm who has seen his share of &#8220;soul-sapping PowerPoint muggings.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Or as the Rock Star <a href=\"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/?p=90\" target=\"_blank\">commented in an earlier post<\/a>, it can become a terrible crutch for a candidate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I must fall in the masochistic side of PowerPoint &#8211; I actually enjoy PowerPoint presentations.
