{"id":2558,"date":"2015-04-08T09:17:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-08T14:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/?p=2558"},"modified":"2015-04-08T09:20:57","modified_gmt":"2015-04-08T14:20:57","slug":"revealing-resumes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2015\/04\/revealing-resumes\/","title":{"rendered":"Revealing Resumes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We run a systematic hiring process for sales positions.\u00a0 We have refined the process over the past 14 years and have it optimized (even though when we started we were writing newspaper employment ads!).\u00a0 As part of any hiring process, you have to receive resumes of respondents to the ad.\u00a0 This is where things are changing.<\/p>\n<p>A new trend I am seeing is resumes with copy and paste information from job descriptions, websites, etc.\u00a0 What I mean is candidates do not take the time to write about their skills and experience in their current or previous roles.\u00a0 They simply use web\/marketing copy that they paste into their resume.\u00a0 I have also seen many resumes with the job description information pasted into their experience.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou will call on mid-market companies to sell our cloud-based service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That is someone\u2019s experience for their current job.\u00a0 Amazing.\u00a0 What is worse is that this position is selling <em>marketing services<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I like to remind hiring managers that this is the best the candidate has to offer.\u00a0 The interview process should reveal the best of what they have to offer, from writing to phone discussions to follow-up.\u00a0 If their best in this phase isn\u2019t good enough for the role, do not expect improvement if you add them to your sales team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We run a systematic hiring process for sales positions.\u00a0 We have refined the process over the past 14 years and have it optimized (even though when we started we were writing newspaper employment ads!).\u00a0 As part of any hiring process, you have to receive resumes of respondents to the ad.\u00a0 This is where things are changing.
