{"id":1699,"date":"2008-08-07T13:28:00","date_gmt":"2008-08-07T18:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/08\/look-it-sounds-like-it-hurts\/"},"modified":"2008-08-07T13:13:02","modified_gmt":"2008-08-07T18:13:02","slug":"look-it-sounds-like-it-hurts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/08\/look-it-sounds-like-it-hurts\/","title":{"rendered":"Look, It Sounds Like It Hurts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not well-versed in the rapport-building technique (my phrase) known as Neuro-Linguistic Programming.\u00a0 In fact, I&#8217;m not certain that is the correct definition of the acronym NLP.\u00a0 But it is fascinating information.\u00a0 Geoffrey James discusses this topic in his blog post <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bnet.com\/salesmachine\/wp-trackback.php?p=405\">Ten Seconds to Better Rapport<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This method based upon the scientific observation that people have what are sometimes called \u201cthought modalities\u201d or, more colloquially, \u201chave their brain wired different ways.\u201d Research has shown that most people favor one of the three different modalities:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><em><em>Visual<\/em>.<\/em><\/strong> The person values and responds to what he or she <strong>SEES<\/strong>. A visual person will tend to dress flashy, talk quickly, and use plenty of broad hand gestures.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Auditory.<\/em> <\/strong>The person values and responds to what he or she <strong>HEARS<\/strong>. An auditory person will tend to dress conservatively, talk in an even tone, and use subtle hand gestures, usually synchronized with what\u2019s being said.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Kinesthetic.<\/em><\/strong> The person values and responds to what he or she <strong>FEELS<\/strong>.
