{"id":1496,"date":"2008-04-02T10:16:03","date_gmt":"2008-04-02T15:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/04\/words-to-avoid\/"},"modified":"2008-04-02T09:20:01","modified_gmt":"2008-04-02T14:20:01","slug":"words-to-avoid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/04\/words-to-avoid\/","title":{"rendered":"Words To Avoid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.justsell.com\/content\/newsletter\/relativewords.htm#relativewords\">JustSell.com offers a list of words to avoid<\/a> in your qualifying activities (both written and spoken).\u00a0 This is a pet peeve of mine so I was elated to see such a comprehensive list.\u00a0 A few of my favorites, or should I say least favorite?<\/p>\n<p>a lot<br \/>\nbetter<br \/>\ncheap<br \/>\nclose<br \/>\nearly<br \/>\nexpensive<br \/>\nin a minute \/ second \/ while<br \/>\noccasionally<br \/>\nprobably<br \/>\nsoon<br \/>\nsort of<br \/>\nvery<\/p>\n<p>I would add &#8220;really&#8221; to the list.\u00a0 Ok, why is this important?\u00a0 I&#8217;ll let the JustSell guys explain:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Asked, &#8220;When can you have that for me?&#8221; in a business setting, a specific date and time is your best answer. Anyone in a leadership role will tell you that &#8220;soon&#8221;, &#8220;later&#8221;, or even &#8220;next week&#8221; doesn&#8217;t help them understand when you&#8217;ll have that for them. Say, &#8220;Tuesday before 10 am.&#8221; That&#8217;s helpful.<\/p>\n<p>This is a tough one (your tough is probably different from ours, we understand).
