{"id":1470,"date":"2008-03-14T10:05:45","date_gmt":"2008-03-14T15:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/03\/wide-angle-thinking\/"},"modified":"2008-03-14T10:03:01","modified_gmt":"2008-03-14T15:03:01","slug":"wide-angle-thinking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/selectmetrix.com\/blogs\/2008\/03\/wide-angle-thinking\/","title":{"rendered":"Wide-Angle Thinking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just caught up to this quote in a good quote from Peter Drucker in BusinessWeek.com&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/managing\/content\/feb2008\/ca20080228_039837.htm?campaign_id=rss_null\">Wide-Angle Thinking<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Surely, Drucker would have applauded. &#8220;Too many think they are wonderful because they talk well,&#8221; he once pointed out. &#8220;They don&#8217;t realize that being wonderful with people means listening well.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here is another aspect we subscribe to in our sourcing activities:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Handy goes even further, advising that companies should roam far beyond their traditional bounds to better understand not just technology but myriad practices and processes. Say, for instance, a manufacturer needs to tap a team of top talent for a project that will be disbanded after a relatively brief period. Handy&#8217;s suggestion: Arrange a visit to one of the Hollywood studios.
